He Hit 70!?
It's not really that hard to figure out what is hot in the world of collectibles right now. Mark McGwire is probably the hottest person around, and you can bet anything with his name or likness on it will be equally as hot. Think about it, the man broke Roger Marris' home run record of 61 then went on to hit 8 more... simply incredible.
The people who have the homerun balls for 62-70 could all be millionaires right now if they were to sell them. Having his rookie card wouldn't hurt either, and considering it will eventually be worth well over $10,000, the $20 price from a few years ago seem like pennies. Even if you were to buy one right now your investment would be returned to you with a very high gain once McGwire retires.
May the Force be With You
Let's not forget Star Wars, however. Star Wars collectibles are only going to get hotter with the first of the movie prequels arriving next year. People "in the know" already predict the movie will top Titanic in box office sales and the more popular something is, the larger the demand for merchandise, which means all those figures you have will soon be growing in value.
